Who am I?
My name is Benjamin Hicks and I’m a web designer/front-end developer based in Pennsylvania with a passion for customer service, efficiency and having fun.
Skills: JavaScript, PHP, C#, CSS, HTML, GitHub, WordPress
I have been highly inspired by the Nintendo company. Their games are made with simple concepts to make engagement easy and depth to keep customers returning. I bring that same mindset to each of my projects.
Projects

Tea Cozy is small bakery website.
- Simplistic UI design: The Header tab links to other parts of the site. It stays unintrusive at the top of the page.
- Simple color design: outside of the pictures there are only two colors. I use more muted (and complementary) colors to allow the pastries to pop.
- Varied section identity: Each section having differing positioning style to make them distinct and hold viewer attention.
Again, simplicity is at the heart of my design philosophy. If someone can understand the fundamentals of my site in the first few seconds, then it will be easier to interact with and enjoy.

Fotomatic is an example of a photography website.
- Uses simplistic design to concisely show your work and still leave an impression
- There is a call to action in the first section of the site.
- The rest is a demonstration of your work, information about yourself/team and anything else you want to note.

Colmar Academy is an informational website designed around education.
- Design Challenge: This website brings up the most important part of web design and development: updating information on the page. Orientation dates change, guests change, sometimes locations and courses change. this site was designed with updating in mind.
- Card Style blocks: It’s imperative that a site has accurate information. With card style blocks that makes it easy to catch and update any discrepancies.
